'Riviera dei Limoni' is the name given to the west coast, comprising the towns from Limone sul Garda to Saḷ. The first introduction of the lemon trees on the lake Garda, from Liguria coast, is attributed to the friars of the monastery of San Francesco in Gargnano, in the XIII century.
Since then the cultivation of this trees characterizes the western coast of the lake Garda.
The 'Lemon Trees' Coast' keeps places of extraordinary beauty and cultural and territorial uniqueness; it offers a vegetation both of Mediterranean type, with cypresses, holm oaks and ash trees near the shores, and of mountain type, with beeches and elm trees, going up towards hills. The History has still exalted the peculiarities of every single village, in the hinterland, that has always been attached to the traditions, and in the coastal area, with a big touristic vocation.
